8"x 10" canvas painted using acrylic paints.
✨
This painting definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone in so many ways😅
✨
i got gifted a set of color-shifting acrylic paints to test out and as soon as i saw the colors i knew i had to create a place that was bright and vibrant! I used these paints on the rainbows, and the mountains.
The red and pink mushrooms were painted using regular ole acrylic paints, but the white specs on them were made using Gesso paint that was layered so when it dries you can feel the full texture of the mushrooms 😁
For the clouds and lighter circles emitting from the portal i used white watercolor paint. i wasn't sure how to get that transparent, almost ghostly white and every time i tried watering down my regular acrylic paint i could never get it transparent enough. i really enjoyed using the watercolor over the acrylic paint and i for sure want to try and implement that technique in another painting!
i let this project sit for about a week before sealing it because i had a strong feeling it just wasn't complete yet; and i was right! The day i was going to seal it i got a gift in the mail of a bunch of thin brushed paint pens! i'm a Posca gorly so using these new paint pens was a little questionable at first, but they quickly became a favorite. They apply just like Poscas imo, but you get more colors for a better price. i used the paint pens to detail things like: the pink mushrooms/the portal/some stars/the circle lines with metallic silver, the red mushrooms with a lighter shade of red, other various colors to touch up edges of the rainbows, and the white pen for all the tiny dots and sparkle details.
Of course no painting is complete without my favorite chunky glitter! i used the glitter inside the door, the portal, and the black mushrooms.
